APS Elastomers Introduces Improved TPUs for Caster Wheels

APS Elastomers’ latest TPUs (thermoplastic polyurethane) can be used in a wide range of commercial, industrial and consumer products including, but not limited to caster wheels for shopping carts, office chairs, and material handling equipment.  The polyester-based TPUs offer improved resistance to petrol, diesel, oils, vegetable and animal fats, and solvents.  Available in hardness range of Shore 65A- Shore 54D, this specifically formulated injection molded grade is highly durable in demanding weather (UV) and high service temperatures applications.  “Our ability to custom compound and align ourselves with other thermoplastic distributors allows us to provide our customers a single source for TPE material and expertise”, says Stephane Morin, owner of APS Elastomers.

APS Elastomers is committed to innovation in all areas of the elastomer business by providing knowledge of all TPEs.  Along with the highest level of service and support,   APS Elastomers helps select the right polymer and develop new and better processing techniques allowing OEMs and processors to manufacturer their products successfully and efficiently.

APS Elastomers Provides Medical Grade Engineered TPEs

APS Elastomers offers medical grade engineered TPEs (thermoplastic elastomers) that can easily be processed by injection molding, extrusion, coating, and blow molding. Features include: soft flexible feel, excellent grip characteristics, low specific gravity, easy to process and color, FDA compliant, and good compression set.  “Our unique class of polymer material combines the elastomer properties of thermoset rubbers with the processing efficiency of thermoplastics,” says Stephane Morin, owner of APS Elastomers.

With ongoing product innovation TPEs continue to replace traditional elastomers and thermoplastics in a variety of medical applications- making them a cost-effective alternative to natural rubber and silicone.  Available in Shore Hardness range of 35A to 74D, the  high performance and versatile TPE material can be used on their own or overmolded to provide tactile or functional features on components molded from other polymers such as PP, PE, ABS, PC, SMMA, POM, and Nylon.

APS Elastomers Develops Overmolding Soft-Touch TPEs for Mobile Devices

APS Elastomers has developed a new series of overmolding soft-touch thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) designed for cell phone and other personal electronic devices.  Specially formulated to produce a silky touch and tactile haptic feedback, these TPEs are stronger than silicone and more flexible than traditional thermoplastic elastomers making the new grade a cost-effective replacement to current materials used.

The new grades are available in Shore A Hardness of 32A, 40A, 60A and 70A, and offer an excellent chemical bond between the soft elastomeric alloy and a rigid thermoplastic substrate. Products are soft to the touch as well as slip resistant. They are also microbial and weather resistant, and have good color stability. The grades require no drying, are easily colored, process easily and provide superior bonding performance and consistent mechanical properties when used in overmolding applications.

“These new TPEs provide desirable haptic/tactile feedback and excellent vibration dampening properties for cell phone cases, tablets, electronic wristbands, and other mobile devices”, says Roger Huarng, owner of APS Elastomers.

APS Elastomers is an independent TPU, TPE, TPV and other elastomer resource offering in-depth knowledge, product development and support to OEMs and processors.
